Fiber Cement Siding is Top Value in National Home Remodeling Study
2011 JH Cost vs. Value Press Release
St. Paul, MN (November 11, 2011): Fiber cement siding is the best value in home remodeling projects, according to a national study conducted by Remodeling magazine, and reported by Twin Cities Siding Professionals of St. Paul, MN. Fiber cement siding topped 35 other common remodeling projects, ranging from adding additional rooms, renovating bathrooms and kitchens and adding a deck.
Remodeling magazine’s “Cost vs. Value” report compares the financial investment of a remodeling project to the increased resale value of the house. Siding a home with fiber cement products garners a higher return on investment than any other home improvement, including re-siding with vinyl siding. Fiber cement siding provides a significant 78% return on the investment. In contrast, a costly master suite addition only produces a 50.5% return. A kitchen remodel is listed as garnering only a 57.4% return on investment in the report. Siding replacement with vinyl siding only delivers a 69.5% return.
“Fiber cement siding retains its value because it is durable and requires minimal maintenance,” said Terry Stamman, who, along with his wife, Kristen, founded Twin Cities Siding Professionals in 1995. “The beauty of new siding combined with a high return on investment value is the reason fiber cement siding was the top material installed by remodelers in the last year, according to research conducted by Professional Remodeler magazine.”
