After hard water – or water that has high mineral content – has evaporated from a window surface, it will leave substances known as calcium deposits or limescale. Over time, these deposits will get baked by the sun and turn into hard, white-colored stains, giving the windowpane a rough texture and unpleasant cloudiness. But there are ways to get rid of this.

How To Remove Hard Water Stains From Windows
  1. Prepare a mixture of 50% vinegar and 50% water. After preparing the cleaning solution, pour the mixture into a plastic spray bottle for easier use.
  2. Soak a towel in the solution. This is to allow the towel to absorb the solution. Gently press the towel onto the stained spots on the window, and let it sit there for a minute or two. Once the natural acidity of the vinegar has softened the mineral deposits, the buildup becomes easier to wipe off. You can also directly spray the vinegar and water mixture onto areas with hard water stains. Then, rub the mixture using a clean towel to break down the mineral deposits sitting on the surface.
  3. Wipe the towel on the window surface until the white-colored stains disappear. You may have to repeat this process multiple times until all spots that are causing the haziness are gone.
  4. Rinse the glass thoroughly. Remove excess moisture from the window using a sponge. Once done, buff the surface dry using a clean cloth.
  5. Finally, you may want to shine the window with a manufacturer-approved window spray. This is to leave you with sparkling clean, streak-free windows.
