The Freedonia® Group had forecasted that the American residential market will post larger gains through 2021 than the commercial market in both value and volume terms. A growth in new single-family housing construction will drive advances. A rise in the number of home renovation projects will also increase demand as many homeowners switch to more durable, low-maintenance siding. Fiber cement, vinyl and stucco siding will account for two-thirds of the residential market total.
Fiber Cement Siding Grows More Popular
The Freedonia Group predicted that fiber cement siding will take market share from other materials like wood siding or vinyl siding because of its distinct qualities. Fiber cement siding can mimic the appearance of more costly materials, and it has excellent weather performance. More homeowners will choose this material, the report predicts, because of improved consumer knowledge and acceptance. Stucco and Vinyl Siding in 2021
The forecast states that vinyl will remain the leading siding material because of its continued popularity in the single-family housing market and because of its affordability. Meanwhile, stucco siding is predicted to have the fastest percentage gains through 2021. Stucco will also gain market share because of its low-maintenance needs and low cost.
